Job Description

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) affects every household in Ohio by regulating publicly owned providers of all utility services, including electric and natural gas companies, local and long distance telephone companies, water and wastewater companies, rail and trucking companies. The PUCO was created to assure Ohioans adequate, safe and reliable public utility services at a fair price. The PUCO facilitates competitive utility choices for Ohio consumers.

The successful applicant will:

* As division chief, implement objectives of the electric, gas pipeline, telecommunication, and water/sewer sections. *develop, approve and execute policy and methods affecting the policies, procedures and methods pertaining to utility service quality, system reliability and system safety.
* Monitor and modify investigation techniques to ensure enforcement of rules and regulations.
* Provide administrative guidance to staff regarding implementation of agency policies and procedures and state and federal rules and regulations.
* Manage the Damage Prevention Enforcement program including oversight of the investigation process.
* Manage agency's emergency response role related to the state's Emergency Management Agency (EMA).

Completion of graduate core program in business administration, public administration, accounting, economics, finance or engineering (i.e., field of study should correlate with assigned job duties); AND 12 months experience in enforcement of public utility service standards, or auditing public utilities for compliance with accounting practices and procedures, or public utility research, or rate structure analysis; AND 6 months training or 6 months experience in supervisory principles/techniques or management.

OR completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, public administration, accounting, economics, finance or engineering; AND 24 months experience in enforcement of public utility service standards, or auditing public utilities for compliance with accounting practices & procedures, or public utility research, or rate structure analysis; AND 6 months supervisory/managerial experience.

OR 12 months experience as Public Utilities Administrator 2, 23152.

OR 24 months experience as Public Utilities Administrator 1, 23151.

OR 48 months experience in position comparable to Public Utilities Administrator 3, 23153 with government agency or public utility; AND 6 months training or 6 months experience in management.
