OVERVIEW:

The Office of Budget and Management (OBM) is seeking an Economist, who should be a highly motivated individual desiring to play an integral role in the development of Ohio's $70 billion budget. We are seeking the right candidate from any level of experience (recent graduate/PHD student to experienced professionals) to engage in revenue forecasting and monitoring to ensure funds are available to support critical state programs. The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, both orally and written, and confident in making recommendations on economic conditions and future impacts to the OBM Director.

JOB DUTIES:

In this position, you should be comfortable interpreting large amounts of national and state economic data for use in forecasting, planning and analysis. You will provide guidance regarding the development of tax revenue projections. This position will also be responsible for evaluating federal legislation, and economic and fiscal policies that affect Ohio.

The selected candidate will contribute to and edit the monthly financial report (economy and revenue sections), assist in the interpretation of the education foundation formula, review annual and biennial Medicaid forecasts, and work closely with the Director of the Office and Budget and Management to provide, gather and develop information in response to requests from leadership and outside parties. The candidate should be highly motivated to handle special assignments and meet strict deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of graduate core program in economics and experience in statistics, macro & micro economic theory, financial analysis, and cost research studies.
