Job Description

Delta Air Lines' OAP Department is seeking qualified co-op students, available for a minimum of 3 alternating work terms starting Spring 2020.

Operations Analysis & Performance (OAP) Co-op:

Description:

Operations Analysis & Performance co-ops will work with analytics professionals supporting one of the following functions or departments:

Competitive Analysis & Schedule Support (CASS) - Optimize aircraft schedule to maintain peak on-time performance

Corporate Safety, Security & Compliance (CSSC) - Support the safe and secure operation of the airline

Crew - Pilot and Flight Attendant operations and performance efficiency

Delta Connection (DC) - Support end to end analytics and cross-divisional operational initiatives and improvements for the operation of Delta's regional airlines

Flight Operations (FOP) - Aircraft and gate to gate operations and performance

In Flight Services (IFS) - Customer onboard experience and catering operations and performance

Operations & Customer Center (OCC) - On-time flight metrics

Technical Operations (TOP) - Maintenance operations

Though individual responsibilities will vary by function, some examples are given below:

1. Measure current operational performance and/or customer satisfaction

2. Identify optimization opportunities to reduce injuries and security line wait times

3. Research, analyze and interpret operational data

4. Develop new reports and dashboards and automate existing ones

5. Perform reliability/root-cause analysis for parts and maintenance

6. Evaluate and provide recommendations for improvement of key operational metrics including aircraft time at gate, gating efficiency, and feasibility of aircraft schedules

7. Seek operational improvements to reduce aircraft taxi time and flight time

8. Maintain, run and improve staffing models to support airport operations

9. Provide strategic and operational support and develop performance metrics and goals

10. Develop success factors and statistical evaluations of new procedures and systems

Job Qualifications:

The following are required to be considered for this position:

1. Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Science, Business/Management, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics or related quantitative field - some positions may require a minimum of 30 completed semester hours

2. A working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

3. Experience or a demonstrated interest in data analysis and coding, preferably SQL - some positions may require specific coding skills such as SAS, VBA, Python

4. Strong written/ oral communication and presentation skills

5. Availability for 3 alternating work terms starting Spring 2020

6. A professional image with a team orientation and the ability to perform under pressure while upholding quality standards

Applicants requiring a work visa or company sponsorship now or at any point in the future may be hired as co-ops but will not be considered for future full-time opportunities.

The following are additional desired qualifications for this position:

1. Experience performing statistical analysis and modeling - linear regression, segmentation, non-linear predictive (e.g. logistic) regression, and/or machine learning (e.g. TensorFlow)

2. Experience with coding and/or simulation software (SQL, SAS, C, Python, VBA, Arena, Simio, ProModel, MatLab, Oracle, etc.)
