Essential Job Duties

Summary of Position:

Under the general direction of the Director of Economic Development, the Economic Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing economic development or workforce development programs to promote the growth and development of the City's economic base, assist in the retention and expansion of existing businesses and attraction of new enterprises to the City.

Essential job functions:

* Assists in the planning and organizing of the City's economic and workforce development activities.
* Serves as a liaison with public, private and not-for-profit organizations for business retention, expansion and attraction activities.
* Maintains databases of contacts and all pertinent resources necessary for economic development activities
* Analyzes economic demographic information
* Responds to requests for information and assistance
* Collaborates with local, county and regional agencies involved in economic development and workforce development-training
* Creates and maintains website information
* Produces commercial real estate reports for inquiries and quarterly reporting purposes
* Plans meetings and provides administrative support to forums and roundtables
* May attend professional group meetings to stay current on new trends in economic development and public administration
* Composes letters, memos, emails and economic development content for social media and community outreach
* Assists Economic Development Director with various matters including, but not limited to, City Commission presentations, Chamber and business meetings and other matters as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics:

* Knowledge of marketing, media, social media, sales, advertising, event planning, and/or public relations
* Knowledge of photography, advertising, graphic design, and events planning principles and practices.
* Knowledge of written composition and editing to include advanced methods and techniques of technical report preparation and presentation.
* Knowledge of office management to include a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, media, social media and graphic design software.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in business administration, marketing, public administration or associated area. Related experience a plus.

Supplemental Information

Physical Demands:

Physical demands involve balancing, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, mental acuity, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. May be required to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Work Environment:

The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environment conditions, although the position does require meetings out of the office and in the field. Job likely consists of typical office work or administrative work.

Hours of work: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, night hours as required.
