Title: Cloud DevOps Engineer

Hiring Location: Open to U.S. cities

Organization: Technology & Infrastructure - Office of the Deputy CIO for Technology

Work You'll Do:

Our Client Solutions Group, which reports to the office of the Deputy CIO for Technology, is responsible for elevating our delivery capabilities through the advancement of key processes and technologies that fully operationalize the DevOps delivery model and strengthens the security of client solutions hosted environments.

The Cloud DevOps Engineer will engineer, install, configure, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot Deloitte's cloud applications and hosting platforms. As a Cloud DevOps Engineer, you will responsible for execution, engineering, and operational tasks for applications and hosting platforms running in the Public and Private Cloud. This responsibility includes both IaaS and PaaS services.


* Install, configure, automate, and monitor various Cloud Services (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS), IIS, and other web hosting technologies.
* Assist in-house development teams with application/platform integration issues such as security/permissions, Service configuration, and network issues (name resolution, firewall port flows, and load balancing).
* Devise and execute test plans to reproduce and validate problem root cause in non-production environments.
* Drive service recovery efforts by completing server/client log analysis, network traces and process profiling via .NET profilers.
* Identify virtual and physical infrastructure issues which impact the functionality of the application and hosting platform.
* Perform operational engineering for activities which include platform upgrades, patching, monitoring, configuration, and troubleshooting.
* Provide periodic off-hours on-call support for production systems per team rotation.
* Leverage established system performance standards to support capacity management objectives.
* Implementation and periodic testing of business continuity plans for supported hosting environments.
* Communicate and troubleshoot issues across multiple stakeholders in the ITS organization. Interaction with people at a variety of technical and management levels will occur daily.
* Identify opportunities to script operational procedures to reduce manual effort.
* Establish an automated DevOps release management pipeline which delivers tooling for next generation application development efforts (the Dev) and on-going production operations (the Ops). Cultivate a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery mind set.
* Ensure development teams are provided a full set of DevOps ALM tools by leading the establishment of the right tooling and processes that will result in a fully automated release management pipeline to include: the Automated build process, environment setups, testing scripts, deployments, and production operational metrics/debugging information (to target developers).
* Partner with development and operations teams to develop practical automation solutions and custom modules. Troubleshoot automation issues and find practical solutions that move projects forward in a timely manner.

The Team

Part of the Information Technology Services (ITS) organization, the Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) group works to transform how ITS deploys technologies and services. The T&I team is working to create a leading edge, global, cloud-enabled infrastructure, including next-generation communication and collaboration solutions. The team also manages communication and collaboration, data center operations, practitioner support, and devices.

Members of our ITS team work behind the scenes, but are essential to the Deloitte organization. Our ITS team develops custom enterprise applications and provides IT infrastructure support to clients to ensure that they sustain a competitive advantage and stay ahead of the innovation curve. Our team has the analytical skills needed to parse mountains of data, the technical proficiency required to deliver custom solutions, and stellar communications skills needed to present research, discovery, and recommendations in logical and easily understandable ways.


* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems
* Demonstrates experience with CI/CD Design and CI/CD Implementation leveraging automation such as VSTS to build, test, and deploy.
* Demonstrates experience with cloud monitoring implementation and management such as Application Insights and OMS.
* 2+ years of experience writing scripts in one or a combination of the following languages: C#, PowerShell, Perl, Unix Shell Scripting or JavaScript (Node.js).
* 2+ years of experience managing systems in environments where IT service management frameworks are leveraged (based on ITIL, COBIT, MOF, or similar frameworks).
* Ability to work a schedule that accommodates on call support hours.
* Demonstrates a working understanding of web hosting infrastructure architectures, SDLC, basic programming practices, and core networking principles.
* Demonstrates a strong understanding of cloud application troubleshooting techniques and strategies including the ability to use a variety troubleshooting tools.
* Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple project deliverables on multiple projects effectively.
* Demonstrates excellent communication and reasoning skills.
* Ability to travel ~20%.
