Job Description

Provide meaningful instruction for all class sessions during the semester for the complete class period. Be punctual in class attendance. Prepare for the instructional process to ensure that course content is presented in a professional manner, with adequate opportunity for students to engage in dialogue about the material, and such that learning is facilitated with varying learning syles. Create a learning environment in which all students are treated equitable and with respect. Use a variety of assessment strategies to maximize student success, including assessment of program outcomes. Develop and manage course syllabus. Develop assignments, and theory, and practical course work relative to learning objectives stated on the master syllabus. Maintain accurate attendance (if applicable in accordance with the College's curent attandance policy), progress, and evaluation records in an acceptable gradebook format and file these gradebooks (or copy) with the division office at the end of the semester. Maintain discipline and order during the instructional activities. Evaluate the process and performance of the student and assign grades. Enforce the Colleges policies and procedures and safety regulations of the Student Judicial Code. Respond to email communications.


Communicate through appropriate channels (Department Chair, Site Manager, Assistant Dean and Vice Chancellor for Workforce and Technical Education). Participate in specical staff development activities for faculty. Collaborate with departmental colleagues in the selection of library resources, software, and textbooks and in the development of master course syllabi. Develop and distribute within the first week of the semester, course syllabi that are in accordance with approved master syllabi and which describe in detail the requirement of the course, attendance policy, assessment strategies, grading system, apppropriate safety procedures, classroom management policies, and other information as appropriate. Participate in assessment of non-traditional learning for credit. Perform registration assignments and monitor the enrollment of students in classes by directing students who are not officially enrolled to their division office or the Registrar's Office to correct enrollment problems and by restricting attendance to officially enrolled students.


Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Dean, Director of Technical Programs and/or Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development and Technical Education. Submit grades in Banner by deadline. Participate in professional development activities that enhance the faculty member's effectiveness. Assist students with information about job opportunities in the discipline or program, with certification or licensure information, and with information about articulated programs and coursework at secondary and postsecondary institutions.
