The temporary Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing financial reports, reconciling general ledger accounts, gathering data, tracking information, and supporting analysis projects.

Excellent Microsoft Excel skills

Basic knowledge of accounting terms and principles

Experience

Experience with Excel and other data analytic tools strongly desired

Experience in higher education is preferred

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Key Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities

Monitoring and Reporting

* Prepares monthly financial reports for the Administrative and Provost Finance Center (APFC) customer departments
* Assists with data gathering for surveys and compliance filings
* Assists with the fiscal year-end close process as assigned
* Prepares ad hoc reporting as requested

Analysis

* Performs analysis on accounts to identify and document variances from budgets, savings opportunities, and potential risks
* Prepares journal entries

Reconciliations

* Prepares, reviews, and/or documents monthly and quarterly reconciliations
* Identifies and implements procedures to streamline reconciliations

Customer Service

* Takes questions from APFC customer departments, interprets and analyzes them, and provides research and recommendations
* Supports APFC customer department with various financial processes
* Collaborates with others in the Finance & Administration division
* - Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others. -- Supports other financial analysts and performs other duties as assigned.
