Job Description

Conduct tests, maintain, and repair electrical/electronic, mechanical and robotic components.  Apply knowledge of electrical/electronics and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and apply skills in restoring equipment to operation.  Provide skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of Manufacturing.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Comply with good manufacturing practices (GMP) as required.
  • Comply with Dart Container's policies and procedures.
  • Perform duties in a safe and responsible manner and in accordance with company policy.
  • Assemble and wire complicated controls for prototype and production equipment.
  • Trouble shoot and repair mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to programmable controls, numerical controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical, control assembly and machine wiring schematics as well as material bills and other reference materials.
  • Design and layout basic control circuits.
  • Inform appropriate management and Maintenance Mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
  • Conduct advanced level bench tests on electrical control assemblies.
  • Diagnose and correct basic electrical assemblies and machine control panels at bench and on completed machine assemblies using digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes. Able to install programs and trouble shoot programmable controllers used in Dart Container designed control systems.
  • Complete purchase orders and other required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Operate and test production and experimental control systems.
  • Support maintenance and production personnel in trouble shooting electrical problems on production equipment.
  • Review electrical assembly procedures and make recommendations for improving quality and efficiency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Plant Manager and/or Production Manager.
  • Assist with training other maintenance and/or technical level employees.

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • Three (3) years experience in the electrical/electronics, mechanical fields or a combination of work experience and education required.
  • Intermediate computer experience/operation and PLC programming required.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions required.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast paced manufacturing environment preferred.
