Dart Container has the ability to hire a Designer at the Associate or Mid levels

Dart Container Corporation has a need for an experienced Designer to join its Product Development team. 

The Designer is responsible for designing and modeling new single-use food containers and prototype tooling to include new containers, new features that add value to our customers, and new material applications to achieve sustainability goals. The Designer creates multiple concepts with input from a cross-functional project team, leads the team to converge on a product design, and supports the product through prototyping, testing, and start of production.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Take broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful designs.
  • Complete projects of moderate size, scope, and duration
  • Coordinate the work with other designers or drafters working on the same project
  • Create simple to complex concept layouts 
  • Accurately finalize the documentation for the implemented changes
  • Utilize NX Version 10 CAD software, Teamcenter® PLM system, SAP ERP system, and standard Microsoft® Office software
  • Develop knowledge of processes, equipment, and raw materials
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate and implement design-led solutions to challenging problems
  • Receive and review system requirements and generate specifications
  • Mentor other designers and drafters

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Associate Designer candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with design related coursework
    • Associate's degree with design related coursework and four (4) years of drafting and/or design experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years of drafting and/or design experience
  • Two (2) years of CAD modeling experience using NX Version 8 or higher
  • Proven ability to create engineering drawings
  • Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in both team and independent environments
  • Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information
  • Ability to learn how to use software and systems such as Teamcenter® PLM system and SAP
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestic and international
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience modeling thermoformed products or tooling  
  • Experience using a Product Data Management software package such as Teamcenter
  • Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning software package such as SAP
  • Experience with applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

    • Associate's degree with design related coursework and six (6) years of drafting and/or design experience
