At our Danfoss site in Ames, IA we are seeking a motivated individual passionate about robotics and human interactions to join our team as the Collaborative Robotics Intern for the Summer 2020.The Collaborative Robotics Intern will help us create sets of rules for the application of collaborative robots in manned work-spaces. Recent advancements in robotics have resulted in the emergence of collaborative robots. While there is an abundance of experience with automated robot systems, an emerging common challenge in the industry is optimizing the design of work stations where humans and collaborative robots work in close proximity to each other.

BACKGROUND & SKILLS

* Pursuing a degree in Automation, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering
* Passion and curiosity for robotic technologies
* Experience in working with and programming of robots
* Excellent communication skills, and presentation skills
* Creative problem solver with the ability to focus on details in the context of broader organizational objectives

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

* Assess the physical aspects of human & robot interaction
* Evaluate types of tasks and their fit for execution by either a human or a robot in high variety manufacturing space
* Identify, design and prove potential applications for the next generation of collaborative robots
* Lead and implement research projects using innovative manufacturing concepts focused on improving process efficiency
