About Cumberland Farms

Cumberland Farms is the largest convenience store/petroleum marketer in the Northeast. The Company was founded in 1939 when Vasilios and Aphrodite Haseotes bought a farm, and started a dairy in Cumberland, Rhode Island. During the early years the Haseotes family operated a rural milk delivery business that succeeded on a value promise that hasn't changed to this day: Give customers the best products and service at the lowest possible price. What has changed, and what continues to change, however, is how the Company keeps its original promise. The definitions of "convenience" and "value" constantly evolve with the times and Cumberland Farms is evolving with them, allowing the Company to stay ahead of the customer and the competition. To that end, Cumberland Farms is focused on building new stores and renovating existing stores, continually transforming the Cumberland Farms retail experience. They typically feature a warm, New England-style architecture to complement the local community. Wide aisles and central checkouts make it easy for customers to find what they're looking for. Softer, earth tones and contemporary decor make for a friendlier, more inviting environment. Amenities such as restrooms located within the stores make busy lives easier, and ensure customers will continue to choose Cumberland Farms over the competition. An ever-expanding product variety keeps Cumberland Farms on top of customer trends and expectations. Fresh sandwiches, healthy beverages and meal replacement bars take their place alongside traditional snacks and drinks. No matter what any particular customer's version of convenience and value might be, Cumberland Farms is determined to deliver it. Along with a good price on gasoline. It's a combination that can't be beat. How can a company with approximately 1000 outlets and 7,000 employees stay nimble and embrace change? Here's how: Cumberland Farms is still privately held. The Company's value promise is upheld on a daily basis by Chief Executive Officer Lily Bentas - a daughter of founders Vasilios and Aphrodite. While Ms. Bentas and her management team do not make changes lightly, they make them efficiently and always in the best interests of delivering convenience and value. Moreover, they see opportunity in change that others sometimes don't. They won't hesitate to modify a store design in order to be more appropriate to the site and the community. They will change the landscaping to be more in keeping with the neighborhood. Decisions like these demonstrate Cumberland Farms' willingness to work with local communities. "I get a very good feeling when we work closely with local boards and residents."
