General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT is currently seeking a Junior System Administrator for the Communications, Operations & Maintenance Function II (COM-F II) in Scott AFB, IL. The selected candidate must have a government security clearance, per contract requirements (Clearance Level: Secret).

The Junior Systems Administrator (SA) will support the Communications Operations & Maintenance Functions (COM-F) contract by providing system administration services consisting of effective system/servers provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of Systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. They will perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks ensuring the systems hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to customer approved production configurations; government system availability and reliably standards; the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) system operation and maintenance procedures. The Jr SA is part of a 24/7/365 system administration services team.

* They will perform system monitoring including monitoring alarms; verifying integrity and availability of all hardware, interfaces, server resources, systems, and key processes; reviews system and application logs; and verifies completion of scheduled jobs (e.g.; clean-up scripts, backups, and resets).
* They will perform regular security event monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
* They will apply operating system (OS) patches and upgrades; upgrades administrative tools and utilities, and applies Time Compliance Network Orders (TCNO), Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), and other downward directed security patches.
* The Jr SA upgrades and configures system software that supports infrastructure applications or per project or operational need.
* They will maintain operation, configuration and other procedures and perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, defragmenting of hard drives, and resource optimization.
* They will troubleshoot and resolve systems services and OS-level issues, monitor user load balance, maintains clean servers, create and maintain scripts for task automation, and track and monitor all customer support requests and troubleshooting and resolution actions in the Trouble Ticket Tracking System - BMC Remedy.
* They ensure trouble tickets are documented and final closed trouble tickets accurately reflect what the actual issue was and how it was resolved.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* BS or equivalent + 2 yrs related experience, or MS + 0 yrs experience
* Must have an active Secret clearance (may start with an Interim Secret Clearance)
* Must have a CompTIA Security+ Certification
* It would be great if you also had experience with: BMC Remedy, General knowledge of scripting languages, and NetIQ monitoring
