Senior Logistics Engineer

This position is on-site at Gulf Island Shipyards, Houma, Louisiana.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 13 years related experience or Bachelor of Science or equivalent.
  • 10 years related experience, or Master of Science.
  • 7 years related experience.

The purpose of this position is to provide logistics support for the Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ship (T-ATS). Class Platforms currently being acquired by the Navy's Program Office for Support Ships, Boats & Crafts (PMS 325). This position will function as the lead on-site logistics engineer for Planned Maintenance System 325L and support the Instrument Landing System Team with the following duties: 

  • Reviewing Shipbuilder Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) Vendor Recommended Spares (VRS) listings.
  • Reviewing Technical Documentation.
  • Reviewing Ship Configuration Listings.
  • Reviewing Technical Manuals and lists of spare and repair parts for adherence to technical, contractual and programmatic requirements.
  • Performing warehouse and on board equipment/material validations.
  • Participating in the pre-binning/binning process.
  • Inventory validation and tracking.
  • Loadout/outfitting functions at the shipyard and on board ship.

The successful candidate will have working knowledge of Unity Service Navigation outfitting of ships, shipboard maintenance philosophies and familiarity with current Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Navy (DoN) and Military Sealift Command (MSC) logistic support policies and practices as applied to shipboard machinery, equipment and systems. Working knowledge of Unity Service Navigation outfitting of ships, warehouse validations and inventory functions and related processes for shipboard equipment/material to include Hull, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics.

  • Demonstrate comprehensive working knowledge of core integrated logistics support functions (provisioning, configuration, technical manuals).
  • Must be able to perform duties onboard the ship during construction, in a warehouse and in an office environment. 
  • Ability to grasp information quickly and multitask effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and/or independently.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite knowledge and skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Working knowledge of the WinMasp application.
  • Working knowledge of Military Sealift Command (MSC)-peculiar databases.
