Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE

This internship will provide support to CSM's Financial Planning & Analysis team. The FP&A team focuses on developing reports, processes and analyses that enhance management's ability to make strategic and accurate business decisions across Retail, Office/Industrial, Hotel & Multi-Family Residential classes of real estate.

The intern will gain an understanding of the real estate industry, market data intelligence and key industry business metrics. Learning will incorporate a combination of hands on experience, mentoring from experienced Real Estate professionals as well as practical assignments. By the end of the assignment, the intern will have a broad understanding of the real estate business and gained exposure to a number of different tools and methods used to support that industry.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop, update and automate reports and analyses utilizing financial applications. This includes assistance in monthly reporting and asset management plan preparation
* Perform market research for analyses and reporting, includes maintaining competitive maps, updating comparative benchmarking and sharing market data intelligence
* Assist in creating a sale comp database that can be utilized to pull competitive comps for each property
* Assist in the benchmarking the analytics of operating expenses for the Multi-family real estate assets
* Assist in tracking commercial tenant financial statements and evaluating their credit risk to CSM
* Other ad-hoc projects as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Must have completed at least two years of college, preferably working towards a Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Real Estate Development or related field.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Strong sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes
* Well organized with a high attention to detail and accuracy
* Solid work ethic with the ability to see projects through to completion
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent computer skills (especially with Microsoft Excel)
* Must be able to be flexible and take initiative
* Ability to keep company information in complete confidence
* Basic understanding of process improvement and a willingness to explore new ideas
