Job Description

Legislative Research Undergraduate Intern $14.21 - $17.27 Hourly

The County Administrator's Office (CAO) assists the Board of Supervisors in managing, directing, and coordinating the operations of all departments.  As the Legislative Research Intern you will assist with the development of recommendations on proposed legislation by:
  • Perform legislative research in support of the Sonoma County Legislative Platform
  • Provide preliminary analysis of proposed legislation related to priority issues such as Housing and Homelessness, disaster Preparedness and Resiliency, and Health and Human Services
  • Perform routine clerical and office work in connection with the Legislative Program
  • Occasionally contact key staff in other departments, jurisdictions, and state and federal legislator offices, by phone, to collect information on issues related to specific legislation
The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in a full-time or part-time academic or vocational curriculum at an accredited university and possess:
  • Initiative and self-motivation
  • An aptitude for research and analysis
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with modern office software and applications
  • Understanding of State and Federal legislative process is highly desirable
