Position Summary:

In this role the intern will interface with Process Engineers and Technicians to develop new processing technologies in the AMS group.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Work with Technicians to develop best practices in our compounding of Fortrex and filled compounds using Single Screw Extruders, Twin Screw Extruders, and Banbury mixers.
* Develop new work instructions on existing processing equipment and new equipment being added.
* Hands on compound development working with Senior Scientist for open projects at AMS.
* Working cross functionally with multiple departments to aide in process development and improvement.
* Work with the Artificial Intelligence software to include processing conditions into material development.
* May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description.

Education and Qualifications:

* Junior level student
* Pursuing a bachelor's degree in an accredited science program (example Chemistry, Physics, Material Sciences, etc.) with a minimum 3.0 GPA
* Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills required.
* Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow-up skills.
* Must be able to work from our Livonia location

Work Environment/Work Conditions:

* Combination of Professional Office Environment and Manufacturing floor
* Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
* Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
