Job Description

General Description of Position

Learn to maintain, alter or repair the existing Cable TV customer systems and to install new systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Install service cable connectors properly. This duty is performed daily.

2. Connect and program customer-owned TV's and related equipment. This duty is performed daily.

3. Install cable modem and digital/HD/DVR converters. This duty is performed daily.

4. Teach customers the proper use of the digital/HD/DVR converter, cable modem and telephone equipment. This duty is performed daily.

5. Teach customers the proper use and operation of the remote control to navigate the digital program guide and order Pay-Per-View and Video On Demand programming. This duty is performed daily.

6. Offer customers the opportunity to subscribe to additional cable, Internet and/or telephone services. This duty is performed daily.

7. Troubleshoot and resolve problems relating to bad cable jumpers that result in poor visual and audio problems. This duty is performed daily.

8. Ensure that all cable service installations, disconnects and change service orders are done in a very professional manner. This duty is performed daily.

9. Ensure proper routing of overhead service cable from utility pole to customer's service entry point; and ensuring proper ground clearance; and not impeding working and climbing space. This duty is performed daily.

10. Read signal level meter and visually view customer's TV set to ensure signal strength is balanced properly for optimum reception. This duty is performed daily.

11. Conduct system-wide cable TV and Internet audits throughout the system. This duty is performed daily.

12. Maintain tools and equipment performing various tasks including cleaning, adjusting and repairing when appropriate. This duty is performed irregularly.

13. Maintain company-issued vehicle in good operating order including maintaining fuel in the fuel tanks; check tires, brakes, lights, horn, hydraulic system; and maintain cleanliness and neatness to provide overall safety.  Complete weekly vehicle checklist on vehicle assigned to you.  Report any mechanical problems requiring maintenance or repair as soon as possible. This duty is performed daily.

14. Perform regular routine tasks including maintaining required records, completing assigned paperwork properly and in a timely manner, attending safety and other meetings, etc. This duty is performed weekly.

15. Complete all assigned paperwork properly and in a timely manner. This duty is performed daily.

16. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
