Job Description

The mission of the Software Engineer 1 is to perform complex activities relating to the modifying, testing and evaluation of embedded software used in products and manufacturing systems. The SE 1 should should work independently, with minimal necessary engineering support and be familiar with medical device design requirements. To accomplish this mission, the SE 1 must have advanced skills and education, advanced programming capability, and the ability to work with others.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Provide existing product line support through software modification and re-validation of released products. Work independently to provide input to the engineering group in the specification of software development tools and their implementation.

* Design systems for ease of use by manufacturing and assembly staff. Provide work leadership and training to implement new designs or improvements of existing designs.

* Perform software validation and documentation to meet FDA GMP part 820 and ISO 9000. Create and present necessary DCN's and ensure changes are properly documented and validated per CONMED procedures.


* Bachelors in EE, Math or Computer Science.

* Technical Knowledge - Minimum requirement with C and Motorola assembly, C++ and Java experience desirable but not required. Must be able to analyze digital electronics, especially microcontroller systems. Must be familiar with all applicable test instrumentation.

Product Knowledge - Must understand basic theory of operation for CCD video cameras and endoscopes. Must have specific knowledge of the application of CONMED products in medical practice.
