Job Description

Star Precision Technologies in Mentor, OH is seeking a full time, first shift quality inspector to perform visual and dimensional inspections of completed products.

Essential job functions:

  • Read & interpret drawings and specifications including geometrically dimensioned and tolerance prints.
  • Use inspection techniques to verify product features at all stages (receiving, set-up, in-process, final, etc.) of the manufacturing process.
  • Set-up and operate equipment to inspect product features.
  • Assist in the development of acceptable methods of testing product.
  • Understand and utilize criteria for visual inspection of product.
  • Utilize and help shop personnel learn proper inspection techniques.
  • Learn and recognize sources of product defects and render unbiased decisions.
  • Responsible for passing or rejecting parts; including the responsibility to stop production.
  • Work to quickly communicate product defects to appropriate workers for problem correction.
  • Report and record quality problems according to established procedures as requested.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of paperwork required to meet customer requirements.
  • Meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Prioritize work and keep up with production flow.
  • Maintain awareness of customer delivery date requirements. Prioritize activities to ensure these requirements are met.
  • Work with Quality Supervisor to resolve quality issues and maintain knowledge of quality concepts and techniques.
  • Assist in training co-workers.
  • Identify and proactively work to eliminate issues at all stages of the manufacturing process that may result in failing to meet customer quality and/or delivery requirements.
  • Focus on continual improvement in all job functions.
  • May be required to adjust work hours to meet production needs.
  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties as assigned my supervisor.

Skill requirements:

  • CMM programming knowledge and experience helpful, but must be willing to learn & attend training
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and work well under pressure
  • Proficient knowledge of inspection techniques, measuring devices and testing equipment
  • Ability to read blueprints and knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to organize effectively and complete all paperwork accurately.
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and conscientious

Must be punctual, dependable & able to pass a background check & drug screen.
