Job Description

Concordia University is seeking part-time adjunct faculty for Didactic instruction of Pediatric Nursing for the School of Nursing on the Ann Arbor, MI campus. The successful candidate will be a registered professional nurse who is responsible for teaching the pediatric nursing theory course. This contract is renewed on a semester basis.

Each faculty member is expected to comply with all rules and regulations for University faculty as outlined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook. In addition, each faculty member has the following responsibilities:

* Academic
* Develops or revises course syllabi, lesson plans and necessary handouts for assigned course(s) reflecting program outcomes.
* Plans and teaches the course content.
* Informs each student verbally or in writing of midterm progress.
* Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding materials for potential use in the program.
* Completes end of semester and/or academic year course summary and evaluation.
* Current knowledge of clinical practice within the area of teaching responsibility required.
* Attendance at all clinical coordination meetings.
* Assists the simulation team in the development and implementation of pediatric simulations.
* Active involvement in a Christian Church
* Provides written or verbal feedback on student assignments.
* Uses the School of Nursing grading policy when establishing grades.
* Keeps current records of student grades.
* Keeps manual for course(s) up-to-date.
* Assumes responsibility for maintenance of physical property assigned to the nursing program.
* Professional Activity
* Maintains current knowledge of clinical practice, as appropriate, within the area of teaching responsibility.
* Maintains knowledge of current teaching methods.
* Updates curriculum vitae annually.
* Participates in professional and community organizations.
* Participates in nursing scholarship.

Position Requirements:

* Current licensure and registration to practice professional nursing, or other profession, in Michigan
* Have a Master of Science degree in Nursing. An earned doctorate is preferred
* Have a minimum of two years of experience as a nurse in a pediatric capacity Previous teaching in a baccalaureate nursing program is preferred
* Current knowledge of clinical practice within the area of teaching responsibility
