Job Description

Under direction, the SUD Therapist provides program management, counseling and appropriate therapeutic interventions to individuals with both substance abuse and/or mental health issues assigned to the agency's SUD Treatment Program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education, Training, and/or Experience:

  • A Bachelors Degree in a related field; Masters preferred.
  • Independent Licensure in Chemical Dependency (LICDC) or a LISW or PCC with scope of practice in chemical dependency, preferably with children and families.
  • A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience in alcohol and other drug addiction services or an allied profession;
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

2. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board (LISW or PCC) with a scope of practice in chemical dependency. Or a Licensed by the State of Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board as a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC).
  • Must have and maintain a valid Ohio Driver's License, appropriate driving record, and appropriate insurance coverage at all times (as required by agency policy and/or insurance carriers)
  • Successful completion of all required pre-hire tests and proof of current TB test upon hire

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs intakes and assessments

a. Screens clients for appropriateness and levels of care. Conducts diagnostic assessments (clients)

b. Identifies and refers clients to specific services available to meet needs

c. Refers inappropriate or ineligible clients to other available services in the community

d. Helps clients to access resources from other agencies and organizations making linkage and advocating for services when barriers are encountered.

e. Participates in staff and/or agency committees and team meetings as needed to assure effective communications regarding new clients

2. Provides individual and/or group intervention services to assigned clients

a. Develops and implements treatment goals/plans to address needs, utilizing appropriate treatment scales/assessment tools

b. Monitors client goal development and follow through with individualized service planning

c. Develops and implements appropriate therapeutic interventions

d. Evaluates effectiveness of treatment plan and services

3. Utilizes effective and appropriate verbal de-escalation techniques and identification of behavioral difficulties.

4. Consults regularly with supervisor regarding cases, case-load size, appointment schedule and required productivity levels

5. Completes progress notes and corresponding billing sheets within established timeframe.

6. Assists with the administration of plans of the residential alcohol and drug abuse services

7. Ensures that facilities and/or programs meet and maintain compliance with funding, accreditation, certification standards, audit requirements and other issues related to quality, productivity, documentation etc.

8. Maintains appropriate relations with other programs as well as other area providers/community resources

9. Assists with the development of program policies and procedures

a. Ensures compliance with ADASBCC and ODADAS guidelines as applicable

b. Develops outcome measures of program goals

10. Complies with agency human resource policies/procedures. (eg, staff orientation including agency services, site/facility layout, and administrative functions.)

a. Facilitates continuous educational training for staff as necessary
