Job Description


Dillon Stadium is a multipurpose facility in Hartford, Connecticut. It has been host to concerts and sporting events. It was formerly the home of the New England Nightmare of the Women's Football Alliance (WFA). It is currently undergoing a complete reconstruction and will serve as the new home of USL Championship club Hartford Athletic. As a part of the original Colt gift, the lands of Dillon Stadium and Colt Park have long been a treasured community asset. Steeped in history, Dillon Stadium is an iconic Hartford venue. As a FERA (Federal Emergency Relief Administration) project dedicated in 1935, the stadium reached great heights before falling into disrepair - playing host over the years to everything from the annual Thanksgiving high school football game to professional soccer to concerts from the likes of the Rolling Stones, Beach Boys and the Grateful Dead. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and coordinating multiple events; coordinating the work of facility events staff; serving as liaison to all facility users, the City of Hartford, Spectra VM and CRDA; Serving as liaison to HSG (Hartford Sports Group) for all Hartford Athletic Events; overseeing necessary repairs and maintenance.

* Create event information and scheduling in conjunction with the City of Hartford's online booking system
* Meet with facility clients in advance of events and assist in determining event needs; provide information and direction to operations and support staff including audio/visual, telecommunications, set-up, custodial, maintenance, and security
* Prepare drawing, layout, diagrams, instructions, set-up requirements, and supporting documentation for each event and distribute to appropriate staff; communicate changes before and during events
* Submit service request to appropriate departments to schedule event staff according to client request; meet with clients to resolve set-up changes; ensure compliance with applicable fire, building, and safety codes
* Oversee and maintain proper financial bookkeeping
* Serve as facility representative at events; enforce facility policies and procedures throughout each event; identify and resolve event problems; resolve public complaints
* Create and maintain relationship with suppliers/regulatory agencies; prepare & disseminate information as required
* Guide and assist event staff in job performance and resolution of patron issues and challenges
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with facility staff, service providers and facility users
* As assigned, conduct a variety of industry related studies and recommend modifications to departmental service delivery methods and operational policies and procedures as appropriate
* Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
* Responsible for the Events Department role in the execution of event contracts and rental agreements
* Proper use of 2-way radio
* Conduct meaningful performance reviews
* Prepare written evaluations of the events; distribute to appropriate management staff
* Answer questions and provide information to facility clients; support sales department to determine if prospective clients are appropriate for facility use; conduct facility tours as needed
* Prepare written cost estimate to all clients in advance of their event as well as to prospective clients
* Maintain accurate and complete files, records and other documents relating to assigned responsibilities
* Participate on a variety of committees; both internal and external to the facility
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as required


* Entry level experience in direct support of events in a public assembly facility, or related field
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in event management, sports administration, public relations, marketing, business administration, or a related field
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD experience preferred
* Ability to provide exceptional customer service even in stressful situations
* Very strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
* Very strong ability to meet deadlines with high quality results in an environment
* Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks and duties
* Possession of or ability to obtain a valid CT driver's license and CPR certificate
* Ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended numbers of days
