Job Description

Major Duties and Responsibilities Benefits Supplemental Questions

Salaries commensurate with experience and GDPC pay guidelines

Attorney Level I two positions for immediate start.

Primary responsibilities are in the Columbus City's Recorders Court. Handling preliminary hearings for both felony and misdemeanor cases which are bond over to Superior and State court. It also serves as the court of record for city ordnance and traffic violations. This is an early start court with attorneys arriving at 7 a.m.

Attorneys will work with and report directly to a Senior Attorney working in court with them. Applicants should be admitted to practice law in Georgia and be in good standing with the Bar, and have reliable transportation.

Attorney II/III one Position

Experienced attorney for Superior Court felony trial team. Strong background in Jury Trial and felony casework. Appeal experience and admission to the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals preferred. Lawyers work in teams, generally assigned to two Superior Court Judges trial divisions. Must have strong organizational skills. This position is primarily in the Muscogee County Division (Columbus) but may at times include courts in the larger Chattahoochee Circuit.

Applicants should be admitted to practice law in Georgia and be in good standing with the Bar, and have reliable transportation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Preference for someone with excellent caseload management skills, the ability to work independently, minimum amount of trial experience, ability to handle arraignments and pretrial conferences, and ability to read and spot issues in discovery and file appropriate motions, if any.

Minimum Educational and Training Requirements:Must have completed Jurist Doctorate, passed the Georgia Bar and be a member in Good Standing with the State Bar of Georgia. Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation. Limited same day travel in the Circuit.

Physical Requirements: Long periods of sitting or standing in the court room
