Job Summary: Software engineers and application developers are two classifications that share mostly the same competencies. The differences between them are primarily related to the specific technology they have expertise in. Software engineers have knowledge and experience developing in object-oriented and newer technologies, whereas application developers are knowledgeable in more traditional, procedural development environments.
The Associate Software Programmer designs, codes, unit tests, and maintains applications produced by Columbia Ultimate. This includes user interfaces, application logic, data access, architectural infrastructure, and software tools to enhance development, installation, debugging, testing, scalability, and performance. Using software requirement specifications, this person works with product architects, user interface architects, system architects, development support, database architects, and others in the performance of these functions. Must adhere to all company development standards and methodologies. Provides technical and troubleshooting support as needed. Provides input for standards, development tools, design and coding methodologies, testing, and deployment.
This particular Associate Software Programmer will be responsible for building and maintaining an automated test environment. The Associate Software Programmer will be responsible for working with other software engineers and testers to write unit, integration, migration, and other types of tests. They will also be responsible for maintain the night build and installation processes. Over time, this role will determine ways to move the development process to a Continuous Integration (CI) environment.

Based upon design specifications, create, update, test, and maintain code for specific development projects.

Advise management on project status

Create technical documentation as needed, and assist in advising others on the functionality of implemented products, features, and enhancements. Assist in troubleshooting as needed.

Minimum Experience, Degrees, Certifications, and Licenses:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related degree 1+ years software experience in either procedural or object-oriented programming (Java, Delphi, C++, Data Basic, Visual Basic) Demonstrated working knowledge of relational databases
Preferred Experience, Degrees, Certifications, and Licenses:
Familiarity with unit testing frameworks like JUnit and TestNG. Experience with UML Working knowledge of one or more of the following object-oriented languages: Delphi, Java, C++, .Net, Smalltalk Working knowledge with one of the following distributed programming tools: CORBA, DCOM, Java RMI, DCOM, sockets Business domain knowledge and/or experience

Relocation not available. Must work onsite in our Vancouver, WA location.
