Job Description


The Civil Project Engineer II is a fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area of technical assignments. Independently performs most assignments with instruction only regarding general expected results. Receives technical guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval of proposed project plans. Represents the company in some communications with clients from initial effort and throughout entire course of agreement activity. May supervise a few engineers and/or technicians on a project basis.

This position requires up to 50% travel for field work.

Continuing development and participation with technical committees will be encouraged and supported.

* Prepares and designs plans for site grading, drainage, paving, utilities, and roadways for public and private sector clients
* Ensures documents are in compliance with state and local codes, laws, ordinances and agency requirements
* Prepares site plans and authors due diligence studies. Leads efforts in the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and specifications
* Works closely with clients
* Aids in the development of project schedules and timely completion of projects
* Is familiar with project budgets and timelines, and apprises the Project Manager of potential or anticipates changes in scope
* May supervise the work of entry-level engineers and/or drafters
* Makes independent decisions within a general framework
* Plans, schedules, conducts, and/or coordinates detailed phases of assigned project work
* Assists in preparing project scoping and costs for proposals
* Represents Collins in some project meetings.
* Is active in technical societies
* Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours
* Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
* Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work
* Other duties may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university, plus appropriate continuing education
* 5 years of experience
* Proficient knowledge of engineering software including AutoCAD and Civil 3D
