Job Description


As an Engineer I, you will have the chance to work alongside the City of Chicago Department of Transportation and major utilities to apply leading edge technologies to optimize infrastructure management practices. You will be part of a team that successfully coordinates and participates in the execution of Mayor Emmanuels Building a New Chicago with other engineers, planners and coordinators on the team. This position will provide an opportunity to see thousands of projects, and the ability to solve technical problems and steward solutions through the delivery process. * Develop or expand on technical civil engineering practices for work within the City of Chicago
* Assist in the effective communication for the coordination of Public and Private Capital Improvement Projects
* Assist in the review of civil engineering plans
* Assist in technical preparation of specifications and estimates.
* Keep Project Managers informed of workload and any changes to project scope or additional services Approach problems with an entrepreneurial and technological mindset
* Be active or look to become active in professional societies.
* Be able to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
* Knows how to perform his/her duties safely.
* Other duties may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year university plus appropriate continuing education and 0-4 years of experience
