TITLE: Administrative Staff Assistant II

DEESCRIPTIVE TITLE: Outreach and Education Specialist

DEPARTMENT: NYSDEC office - 625 Broadway, Albany, NY

SALARY: $45,455 annual

One position exists with SUNY ESF to assist the NYSDEC, Division of Lands and Forests

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is in the DEC Division of Lands and Forests. The Division's mission is to care for and enhance New York's lands, forests and natural resources for the benefit of all, through the care, custody and control of state-owned lands and conservation easements, and the promotion, use and protection of all natural resources. The person in this position will be a member of a team that provides outreach and education support to the Division's programs, including invasive species, forest health, sustainable forestry, open space conservation and outdoor recreation. Duties will include the development of educational content including but not limited to webpages, printed materials, social media and press releases; some administrative tasks including material inventory and distribution; and opportunities to present information to a variety of audiences in the field.



Either: Five years of experience in the development of outreach materials, environmental outreach or education in a professional/technical capacity;


Three years of the experience described above AND 60 college semester credit hours, including at least 24 college semester credit hours in agronomy, biology (for the purposes of this position, courses that focus on the study of domesticated or farm animals or humans are not qualifying), earth science, ecology, environmental education, environmental science, field natural history, forestry, geology, marine science, natural resources interpretation, or soil science; You MUST submit a list of qualifying courses with your application including course title, number of semester credits per course, name of college or university, and the date (or expected date) of completion. A bachelor's degree in the biological sciences, environmental education, environmental science, forestry, or natural resources interpretation and one year of above experience.

In accordance with the "Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act" institutions of higher education are required to prepare an annual report containing information on campus security policies and campus statistics. This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by SUNY-ESF; and on property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. The report also includes institutional policies concerning campus security, such as policies concerning sexual assault, and other matters.
