Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the design, testing, manufacturing and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems. Ideal experience in the various means of manufacturing the components used in these systems and a sound engineering basis allowing them to calculate and analyze the expected theoretical performance of these systems.

Duties and Responsibilities: (subject to change)

  • Performs new product design based on requests from Marketing and/or Engineering Management. Responsible for development specifications, design analysis, design documentation, working with suppliers and introduction of products into manufacturing.
  • Develops three dimensional mechanical design models on a Pro-Engineer CAD system. Responsible for providing necessary engineering documentation for release to production, including inspection drawings and assembly drawings. He/She also generates the necessary Component Specification Control Document (CSC) for standard purchased parts.
  • Provides complete and detailed three dimensional CAD models of all parts or fabricated assemblies required to produce the finished product. Also responsible for documenting all methods, procedures and tools necessary for the manufacture of the product. Assists and guides junior department members in the generation of CAD models, drawings and other documents required to produce a finished product. Responsible for generating a complete hierarchical mechanical bill of materials for all assemblies as required and for providing other necessary engineering documentation, such as, engineering test reports and/or mechanical product descriptions.
  • Provides verification of designs through empirical testing. He/She is to schedule, direct and/or execute all testing required to verify specification conformance of a new design.
  • Assists Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, outside suppliers and/or design engineers to review, analyze and/or initiate corrective action for mechanical component and/or assembly problems which may occur during the life of the product.
  • Solicits supplier quotations and acquires prototypes of his/her designs. Assures that Codonics purchasing and suppliers have all necessary documentation to produce/acquire fabricated parts or assemblies.
  • Participates in determining MCAD system and departmental operational policies and procedures while focusing on increasing quality, reducing cost and shortening the time to market for new products.
  • Responsible for his/her mechanical design schedule, tooling schedules and product cost analysis.
  • Provides design direction to junior engineering personnel and attends/conducts peer design reviews for new products.
  • Assumes the role of Project Manager for some products or designs as requested by Engineering Management
  • Potential domestic and international travel required.

  • Experience in software or electronics design

Education and Experience:

  • BSME or MSME
  • 5+ years experience in mechanical engineering design in a heavily electro-mechanical industry working with sheetmetal and electronics, preferably in medical imaging
