WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

The Design Intern at Code42 will work under the guidance of the Product Design team during the 2020 summer months. You will work alongside the team to conduct research and design solutions to help people more intuitively use our product. You will be responsible for taking a project from ideation, discovery and research with Product Management through the development process with a scrum team working on the planning, implementation and testing of the changes.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN/GAIN:

* Skills to design software interfaces that are efficient, intuitive, and compelling for the target users
* How to participate in collaborations with Product Managers, Product Owners, Engineers, QA, and Documentation to define and implement product requirements, interaction models, and end-to-end experiences
* Best practices to assess the success of users achieving key objectives and to drive quality of experiences, including accessibility needs
* To produce usable, detailed, high quality design prototypes that reflects the Code42 standards
* Research techniques to identify customer needs, and derive insights that inform product strategy

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

* Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Product Design, Human Factors, User Experience Design, or a related program OR Completion of a User Experience Design Certificate Program with at least 2 years of course work completed
* Enjoy collaborating with team members and stakeholders
* Solid understanding of a user-centered design process
* A strong desire for learning and being proactive
* Available portfolio for review

THINGS THAT WILL IMPROVE YOUR ODDS:

* Experience with Axure, Sketch, and/or Figma
* Examples of high quality UI/UX designs, of both low and high fidelity
* Ability to execute visual design is a plus
* Understanding of HTML5, CSS, and/or JS
* Understanding of common web front-end frameworks
* Good communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills
