Job Description

CoBank's Regional Agribusiness Credit Intern in Sacramento gets real-life exposure to the duties of a credit analyst and working as a part of the lending team. This intern will conduct underwriting and financial reviews for CoBank's direct customers and loans purchased from other financial institutions. A typical credit report prepared by a Regional Agribusiness Credit intern will include an in-depth analysis of a customer's processing or farming operation, including financial position, risk profile and industry make up. In addition, this intern will participate in various collaborative tasks to address customer needs while working together with other credit, relationship and leasing staff. CoBank interns spend the summer as a member of their respective teams, learning business skills and assisting with a variety of projects that have impact on the bank's operations. This is a paid position, including housing stipend, for undergraduate and graduate students working toward a degree in Agricultural Business, Business, Finance, Economics and Agricultural Economics.

In addition, various training courses are available throughout the summer for interns. A living stipend will be included.

This 2020 summer intern position is located in our Sacramento office.

Basic Qualifications

* High school diploma and 1-2 years relevant experience or education.
* Currently enrolled in and working toward a degree in Agricultural Business, Business, Finance, Economics and Agricultural Economics.
* Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

* Strong analytical skills and the ability to model in Excel.
* Aptitude for learning other software applications.
* Ability to perform research across multiple systems.
* Strong written and verbal communications.
* Basic understanding of financial statements and accounting concepts.
* Knowledge of cooperative principles and the desire to expand in this area.
