Starting Salary: $76,509 - $80,881

Position Summary:
The Recreation Manager - Special Events & Programs is responsible for performing professional work in the development, administration, and evaluation of a wide range of special programs, events and volunteer services. This position will oversee a specialized service unit whose technical expertise covers three work disciplines; manage the administrative functions related to meeting the work unit’s operational goals and objectives; develop and monitor operating budgets; and implement quality standards for event operations. This position exercises considerable independent judgment and initiative when managing, leading, monitoring, and supervising the work of employees and contractors to achieve goals that contribute to individual and organizational success by actively supervising, coaching, and mentoring employees in meeting performance and quality standards.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Recreation, Events Management, or a closely related field required.
- Additional experience in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience is required.
- Marketing/fundraising experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of planning, administration, organization, scheduling, coordination, and promotional activities related to the staging of special events, concerts, festivals, and related activities.
- Functional knowledge of program budgeting, financial management, and volunteer administration.
- Basic knowledge of recruitment and management of volunteers, sponsors, and vendors.
- Must be able to perform high-level analytical tasks.
