Assistant Fire Chief

The City of Mt. Pleasant is seeking resumes from community minded, collaborative individuals with a passion for the fire service and neighborhood relations. As the second in command of the Fire Department and the leader of the Neighborhood Resources Unit, this position will mentor staff, work closely with community members and develop systems to enhance and protect life and property through partnerships. Hiring salary range is high $70’s to low $80’s, depends on qualifications.

The role of Assistant Fire Chief is diverse and plays an important role in the development and leadership of the Fire team, as well as a critical leadership role overseeing the Neighborhood Resources Unit and Code Enforcement. The Assistant Fire Chief will assign and oversee daily activities, coordinate with applicable city departments, and engage outside agencies to solve problems and assist residents. Critical to this role is the responsibility for ensuring effective communication and building positive relationships among co-workers, departmental/divisional shift commanders, various fire agencies, community developers, landlords, contractors, and residents.

The City of Mt. Pleasant offers automatic bill payment for utility customers. Customers who would like to utilize this service must complete an authorization form listing the bank and account number the bill will be paid from each month. Once the bank approves the authorization, the bank will be notified of the monthly utility bill amount and the payment will be automatically deducted from the customer's bank account on the due date. Customers will continue to receive a bill in the mail indicating payment by the bank. Questions regarding this service may be directed to the City Treasurer's Office at (989) 779-5387.
