City Engineer (Salary Range $77,313 up to $109,033)

The City of Fairborn is seeking a candidate to help continue the forward momentum of a city that is experiencing significant commercial and residential growth. In support of this progress, the city has a generous capital improvement plan including multiple projects that are substantially funded through over 12 million dollars in awarded grant money for the 2018-2023 planning horizon and consistent funding of local streets through a multi-year levy.

The City Engineer is responsible for planning, developing and directing major programs and projects including determining and applying for grant opportunities. He/she supervises a stable and competent staff. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership, supervisory, and citizen engagement capabilities; and have experience in civil project management.

Examples of the City Engineer's responsibilities include managing the project design process including design consultants, plan review, right-of-way acquisition, staff involvement, public involvement, and interagency coordination; reviewing development plans, permit plans for right-of-way work, and subdivision plans and plats to ensure they meet applicable City ordinances, standards, and specifications; communicating with the public, City staff, design consultants, contractors, utility companies, developers, other government entities, project stakeholders, and the media through written, telephone, and face-to-face communication; and preparing and making presentations to City Council for Engineering Division items, just to name a few.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree with ABET approved major course work in Civil Engineering; supplemented by five (5) years engineering experience with at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be licensed as a PE within the State of Ohio. Must have a valid Ohio driver's license.
