Special Requirements
• City of Eden Internal Application
• Valid Class "A" CDL Drivers' License or the ability to obtain within (6) months, including a tanker endorsement
• Pre-employment drug screening

Essential Job Functions:
• Operate a motorized loader packer or related sanitation equipment on an assigned route to collect and dispose of refuse from residential and business areas.
• Work in this division involves the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment which may include a side loading automated trash collection truck and/ or knuckle boom loader.
• Performs responsible skilled work in the operation of a large, motorized equipment that requires special skill and care around traffic, overhead utility lines, trees, homes and in adverse traffic conditions.
• Duties include, but are not limited to, transporting waste materials from assigned routes to various disposal sites including the City's Transfer Station and the Rockingham County Landfill.
• Considerable knowledge of the traffic laws and regulations governing large equipment operation.
• Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of operating and servicing large size equipment.
• Must be able to distinguish safe traffic conditions and maneuver equipment in tight places.
• Employee is subject to hazards in sanitation work including both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as noise vibration, moving mechanical parts, oils, dust, electrical current, odors, and mists.
• Work is subject to the final OSHA standards on bloodborne pathogens.
• Must be able to perform medium work exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
• Some experience in sanitation and other related heavy equipment operation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.
• Must be willing to train to operate a fully automated trash truck and various other equipment.
• Assists with other duties as assigned.
