Event Assistant
$11.14 - $12.01 per hour (Depends on experience)

Description: This position is responsible for performing manual work associated with meeting room setup and breakdown, including but not limited to: setting up tables and chairs, linens, and drapes, equipment operation, and any other related physical activity at the City's Bayfront Park and Civic Center Facilities. This position is also responsible for operating all audio/visual equipment, overseeing maintenance of conference rooms, and maintaining orderly storage of event supplies for future use. Work includes customer service and planning tasks, but emphasizes manual work, and supervision and transportation of the trustees.

To qualify, applicants must have:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Experience and/or training involving event coordination and set-up, custodial maintenance, and related manual labor tasks for which the individual was independently responsible
  • Customer service experience pertaining to event coordination
  • General experience setting up and operating audio/visual equipment
  • A valid Alabama Driver's License, be at least age 21, be eligible to transport trustees in a city vehicle, and be insurable by the City's insurance provider
