Job Description

JOB SUMMARY AND PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

The Downtown Development Manager reports directly to the City Administrator, or his/her designee, who functions as the supervisor of the program. The Manager spends 80% of his or her time working on the development of attractions, amenities, new business mix and creation of plaza areas. This exempt position maintains a high level of visibility for downtown and the downtown enhancement effort, and is responsible for implementation of the Downtown Plan. Attendance and availability are essential functions of the job.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

1. An undergraduate degree in planning, economic development, business administration, public administration or other appropriate field related to the economic enhancement of down-town/cities.

2. A minimum of five (5) years of related experience in one or more of the following areas; urban planning, architecture, economics, finance, public relations, design, journalism, planning, business administration, public administration, retailing, volunteer or non-profit administration, small business management.

3. Experience in real estate negotiation for the purchase and redevelopment of various property parcels downtown, including the possible use of eminent domain, where appropriate.

4. Negative drug screen.

5. Valid Texas class C driver's license.
