ATTENTION: To be considered for employment with the City of Boca Raton, applicants must provide at least ten (10) years of continuous employment history, if applicable. In the event the applicant has not been employed for 10 continuous years, all time for the 10 year period prior to the date of application must be accounted for including periods of school, unemployment and retirement.

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:

Performs responsible semiskilled work supporting events at the venues and facilities owned or operated by the City including the Mizner Park Amphitheater, Sanborn Square and other locations; does related work as required. Work is performed under general supervision, and involves evening or weekend work as required.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

Acts as City's on-site representative before, during and after events;

Performs tasks at City buildings and venues in support of programs, performances and events;

Assists event and production staff;

Coordinates event set-ups and take-downs;

Coordinates on-site contract labor personnel;

Coordinates, oversees, and supports the services of vendors and contractors working for the City;

Sets up tables and chairs;

Sets and moves barricades and fencing;

Performs general maintenance activities;

Unlocks and locks facilities;

Stocks and restocks bathroom, cleaning, and other supplies;

Removes, and returns equipment, chairs, and barricades to storage areas;

Assists with loading and unloading material;

Maintains chairs, tables, barricades and equipment;

Resolves issues and situations relating to events and programs;

Provides information and answers questions from event and production staff

Operates or demonstrates operation of facility equipment;

Operates and resets electrical breaker and electrical systems;

Perform minor maintenance and repair activities;

Assists with clean-up of events including trash removal and chair and table collection and storage;

Ensures that the safety of event attendees is not compromised.

RELATED TASKS:

Completes reports, checklists, and other paperwork;

Operates lift equipment;

Uses cell phone and radio to coordinate activities;

Prepares work orders for facility repair and maintenance;

Hangs banners, posters, and decorations;

Coordinates with other City staff, including Police Services and Fire Rescue Services personnel;

Ensures that City requirements are met;

Performs related tasks as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Through knowledge and understanding of Mizner Park Amphitheater and City special events functions, policies, and procedures; ability to effectively handle situations that arise before, during, and after events; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City staff, vendors, clients and the general public; ability to work independently; ability to communicate clearly; basic knowledge of facility maintenance; ability to operate lift equipment; ability to complete written reports, forms and checklists; ability to read instructions and plans.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from high school and six (6) months of experience in event management and operation.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period.

Late and weekends required as determined by event schedule.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift, carry and push articles weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to use extension ladders. Exposure to loud noise is probable.
