The City of Appleton has a full-time Diversity Coordinator. This position was established in 1997 by the Appleton Police Department to proactively address issues in the community that affected culturally diverse populations. In 2006 it moved to the Mayor's Office and in 2010 it moved to Community Development.
The Diversity Coordinator will establish effective relations with members of diverse communities, will develop and coordinate diversity training programs both internally and externally, and will aid in the recruitment and retention of diverse, qualified candidates.
The Diversity Coordinator works with members of our diverse community through advisory committees, outreach and advocacy. The City of Appleton will assertively address issues that are identified as highest priority by diverse communities.
The Diversity Coordinator is affiliated with several diversity organizations in the community. The Diversity Coordinator continues to build relationships and strengthen those already established with service oriented organizations which serve culturally diverse populations.
