Job Description

We are hiring a Pharmacy Intern (Class of 2023) to work Evening shifts and weekends coverage. Candidates must be able to work during the school week, in addition to weekends.

Benefits eligible shift & weekend different.

POSITION TITLE: PHARMACY INTERN

DEPARTMENT: PharmacySUPERVISOR's TITLE:Lead Pharmacist

COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: Chief Pharmacy Director, Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technicians I, II, Lead Technician

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To compound and dispense medication, under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, for infant, child and adolescent patients and adult employees of a pediatric Medical Center. To perform a variety of storekeeping, delivery and clerical duties.

Responsibilities

* Compliance - Patient Services Staff

Sustain a working understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Support leadership in Compliance efforts to meet and sustain the regulatory compliance efforts of the department and hospital. Be mindful and judicious in monitoring safety and departmental policies and procedures. Ensure all individual certifications and Safety College requirements are fulfilled in a timely basis. Work with department managers, nurse council and magnet representatives to identify and share safety best practices. Be mindful of CCHMCs processes and compliance with CMS standards and freely communicate safety and compliance concerns to leadership team members.

* Under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist

Prepare sterile medication including IV syringe pumps, parenteral nutrition solutions, large volume parenterals and inhalations. Fill physician orders for inpatients and prescriptions for outpatients and Cincinnati Children's employees. Compound non-sterile pharmaceutical preparations such as hand-made capsules suspensions and topical preparations.

* Data collection and analysis

Perform routine procedures within respective discipline, including the collection and analysis of data which will affect decisions regarding patient care.

Required:

* Must be accepted into an accredited College of Pharmacy with completion of pre-pharmacy course work
* Pharmacy Intern's license to practice in the State of Ohio must be obtained within probationary period and maintained continuously while working as an intern
