Ciber Inc., is currently seeking an experienced Junior Systems Engineer in the Glendale, CA area.

Description
As a Systems Engineer you will work with various product development teams across the enterprise to help design, implement and maintain production pipelines for their application's life cycle.

On the Dev side you are well versed in the philosophy of Continuous Integration and Delivery, and frequently use the tools required to deliver it. You have passion for increasing developer visibility and velocity, are familiar with launching products in a variety of hosting solutions, including public and private cloud systems as well as hybrid integration with more traditional private hosting environments. You will advocate compliance with known standards and partner with developers to improve upon them.

On the Ops side you will participate in defining operational best practices and standards, have a penchant for automating routine tasks, have expert level command of unix CLI tools and system administration duties, mentor and contribute support documentation for future generations. Be enthusiastically committed to delivering world-class technology solutions and the highest levels of customer service, be committed to continual process, product and performance improvements, be able to communicate with confidence, clarity, and honesty, take initiative and assume ownership of a wide variety of systems, processes & deliverables. Be action oriented, capable of working on concurrent complex projects and able to communicate clearly and effectively to cross-functional teams and business audiences.

Responsibilities:

60% Focus - Daily operational duties On-call support is required. Implement new and adhere to existing design and documentation standards for all applications. (products, servers, network and storage/database.) Implement configuration management and patching solutions for security and regulatory compliance. Recognize and manage technical dependencies and/or limitations that impact desired workflow. For new processes, new software etc… Guide delivery of technical proof of concepts and integration methodology. Maintain uptime requirements with highly available clusters. 40% Focus on - Automation and other improvements Actively mentor other operations team members in your areas of Subject Matter Expertise Improve automated configuration management, monitoring and failure recovery solutions. Collaborate with the core architecture team to design, build and maintain systems and storage infrastructure that range from large-scale BI/analytics/reporting applications, marketing web services and everything in between. Support configuring, sizing, benchmarking, tuning and monitoring application clusters. Streamline cluster scaling and configuration for elasticity

Required Qualifications:

Production support experience with common web technologies commonly referred to as the "LAMP stack" Proficiency with one or more scripting languages common to administration of large distributed environments. Integration/automation experience with Chef and Ansible Experience with metrics tools, such as Splunk and Graphite Experience with monitoring tools, such as Zenoss, Nagios, etc. 1 years of experience with enterprise-class data centers and systems of 1000 nodes. 1 years experience building and implementing large-scale distributed solutions with solid understanding of server/storage technologies and ability to implement complex solutions Execution of software, platform, content and configuration upgrades as needed Familiarity with virtualized server environments Solid understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and ability to install and configure operating systems packages Understanding of network technology and communication principles Strong analytical aptitude and problem solving skills to identify the root cause and implement the fix Hadoop application architecture expertise (structure, data, ecosystem)
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and experience of analytics solutions and processes in web analytics is a big plus. Experience with and knowledge of multiple Data Warehouse / Data Mart architectures Familiarity with large scale multi-terabyte environments or experience with distributed systems is a plus
Required Education :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering
Additional Information:
Must have customer service/people skills and experience with a variety of end users. Ability to make recommendations. 1 years of experience with operating systems, Windows and Linux. On-call rotation is currently between 16 seats ( 4 TBH seats), and works in tiers: primary, secondary, emergency, etc.

This position requires the successful completion of a background investigation and/or drug screen.
