Assistant Actuary

The Assistant Actuary will work within the Global Casualty Actuarial group as part of the Chubb North America Actuarial team. The primary role involves development and maintenance of the Global Casualty - Foreign pricing and reporting system, but the position will also involve the support of the Global Casualty - Domestic pricing and reporting system. These systems use both manual and experience based methods to develop and report on benchmark pricing statistics for large accounts with loss-sensitive rating. This position will involve significant interaction with Underwriting and I.T. to design: requirements, specifications, and pricing models for the Global Casualty pricing platform. The role is based in our Philadelphia, PA office and reports to the Lead Actuary for Pricing and Foreign within Global Casualty.

Qualified candidates should be credentialed actuaries with four or more years of experience. This position can be at an Assistant Actuary or Senior Assistant Actuary level depending on the chosen candidate's experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Working with Underwriting to determine needed requirements
* Working with I.T. support to design specifications
* Development of rating algorithms to support pricing benchmarks
* Actuarial support for enhancement testing and Help Desk response
* Design and support for reporting capabilities
* Work on other projects as requested or identified


* BS degree or higher in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, or a related field
* ACAS or higher preferred
* Advanced Proficiency in Excel and demonstrated ability to develop strong SQL skills
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with other disciplines, both technical and non-technical
* 4 years' experience with a property and casualty insurer or in a consulting role; recent, meaningful pricing experience
* Strong organizational skills and discipline
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
