Participates in translational research and development with the focus on CRISPR genome engineering in mammalian cells. Utilizes advanced scientific methodologies under the supervision of senior researcher to execute laboratory experiments and to design scientific procedures. Writes technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes, and observations. Primary function will be to perform tissue culture and other experimental protocols to support vendor activity within the GEI.


Performs routine qualitative and quantitative laboratory procedures following all safety procedures with minimal supervision.

Collaborates with research team to plan, organize and coordinate research in assigned projects which require the application of protocols in carrying out molecular and cellular biology techniques; with primary focus on mammalian tissue culture.

Communicates with all involved project staff regarding project status, creates appropriate project designs and work plans, convenes project team meetings, as needed, to maintain integrity of the research projects and monitors projects in accordance with work plans and time lines.

Maintains the laboratory, updating laboratory protocols used and results derived for each experiment, carefully organized and ordered by project and date and keeps highly technical records of all experiments.

Will be responsible for:

Mammalian tissue culture

Mammalian transfection/ transduction

Maintaining lab equipment

Performing general lab maintenance

Operate a variety of analytical instruments such as microarray, flow cytometer, etc.

Works under the direction of team lead / Research Scientists on lab assignments

Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; report to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

Performs other related duties as required.


Bachelor's or Graduate degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, health sciences, or related fields;

2 to 3 years laboratory experience performing cell culturing activities, preferred

Experience with mammalian tissue culture required

Experience in genome editing, CRISPR preferred, but not required


Experience in research methodology, principles and procedures

Experience in molecular biology and cloning, preferred

Experience in immunodetection and Western blot, preferred

Experience in aseptic laboratory techniques

Experience with safe laboratory practices and procedures

Ability to use independent judgment to develop model concepts and approaches for translational cancer research.

Strong understanding of scientific principles

Project and laboratory management skills

Ability to think creatively

Ability to work well in teams

Knowledge of cell culture parameters, PCR technique, Sanger sequencing data, Flow Cytometry

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Detail oriented
