Qualifications

 Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED

HS Diploma or trade school & extensive knowledge of building codes

Specific Requirements and Preferences
At least 10 years' experience in facility maintenance/carpentry or other related industry experience. Healthcare experience within an acute care hospital and research facility preferred.


Required Skills/Knowledge

Project management, construction, carpentry, mechanical, plumbing, critical space testing, and building maintenance supervision.

Required Licenses and Certifications


Functional Accountabilities

Project Management
  1. Manage minor to medium construction projects.
  2. Responsible for negotiating contracts with vendors for various services including maintenance, service, and/or support contracts.
  3. Competitively bid out contracts to ensure best value.
  4. Verify that all workmanship meets highest standards. Take appropriate action to resolve discrepancies.
  5. Provide budget and status update reports to Director of Facililty.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  1. Inspect workmanship of building maintenance technicians and projects for quality and compliance.
  2. Work to ensure the infrastructure intergrity and aesthetic appeal of the facility.
  3. Review and ensure compliance with critical space.
  4. In collaboration with other facility management personnels, provide facilities oversight for Joint Commission and regulator compliance.
BMP Management
  1. Manage the Building Maintenance Program(BMP).
  2. Ensure that a safe work environment is maintained.
  3. Monitor budgets, report variances, and identify options to solving variances.
  4. Provide leadership and guidance to support staff and direct reports.
  5. Serve as point of contact for all BMP upgrades and maintenance.
  6. Provide training as needed for facility/engineering staff.
Contract Work Management
  1. Lead, direct, implement and manage the contract and work on fire wall and smoke barrier penetrations.
  2. Lead, direct, implement and manage contracts and work on all asbestos abatement associated within the facility.
HR Management
  1. Assist with the creation, maintenance of departmental Policies and Procedures.
  2. Hire, train, develop and direct assigned staff to meet departmental objectives.
  3. Provide expertise and support to all building maintenance technicians as needed.

Internship Program

The internship program provides the novice nurse with the knowledge base and skill set needed to transition to competence in clinical nursing practice. While providing the needed skills to meet the organization goals and mission, the program provides nurses with the leadership skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The program bridges the gap between undergraduate education and real-life professional nursing practice, delivering state-of-the art pediatric care.

The program is offered to new graduate nurses from an accredited nursing program with a passion for children. All new graduates, with less than one-year acute care experience, are eligible to participate in the program after obtaining licensure.
