Specific Requirements and Preferences
At least 3 - 4 years of progressive experience in grants or contracts related to biomedical research, and/or healthcare/medical programs and services. Preferred office environment is central or department administration, office of sponsored programs, office of research administration, university or medical center setting, or federal grant-making agency.

Required Skills/Knowledge
Working Knowledge: NIH Grants Policy Statement (12/03), FAR and DFAR clauses, OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133 in addition to 45 CFR Part 74, Appendix E. Math Ability Level: Basic Algebra and Statistics. Perform basic algebraic equations and statistics (average). Human Relations Skill Level: Critical. Computer Skill Requirements: Critical. Hardware: PC compatible. Software: MS Office including Word and Excel are critical. MS Access and PowerPoint are a plus. HBOC Trendstar is a plus. Ability to use formatting commands and higher level commands and functions are a plus.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Willingness to achieve credentialing as Certified Research Administrator (CRA) within three years of employment.

Functional Accountabilities

Pre-Award Services
  1. Serves as expert advisor to faculty, and other departments for general inquiries and concerns.
  2. Provides official proposal review to check for errors, missing or incomplete information according to sponsor requirements and proposal guidelines.
  3. Forwards appropriate documents to signature official (SO) as needed.
  4. Coordinates timeline for proposal submissions.
  5. Submits the final approved proposal to the funding agency or sponsor.
  6. Responsible for negotiating legal terms and conditions for the industry sponsored clinical trial agreement.
  7. Forwards requests for patient-care budgets to the Clinical Trial Office (CTO) as needed.
  8. Responsible for review and contract negotiations.
Post-Award Services
  1. Responsible for award analysis and account set-up.
  2. Responsible for review and submission of the scientific progress report, JIT requests and other similar requests.
  3. Responsible for review and submission of administrative requests such as change in scope or key personnel, no-cost extensions, supplemental requests, etc.
  4. Responsible for updating department information systems and official records to keep information accurate, complete and up-to-date at all times.

  2. Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation
  3. Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation

  1. Assist with A-133 audit as requested.
  2. Participate in training and education sponsored by the department.
  3. Coordinate and communicate with other CNMC departments (legal, human resources, and finance) as needed.

Internship Program

The internship program provides the novice nurse with the knowledge base and skill set needed to transition to competence in clinical nursing practice. While providing the needed skills to meet the organization goals and mission, the program provides nurses with the leadership skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The program bridges the gap between undergraduate education and real-life professional nursing practice, delivering state-of-the art pediatric care.

The program is offered to new graduate nurses from an accredited nursing program with a passion for children. All new graduates, with less than one-year acute care experience, are eligible to participate in the program after obtaining licensure.
