Functional Accountabilities

  1. Encourage and share new ways of making the right work easier to do
  2. Recognize and share incremental improvements in operations
  3. Promote the success of organizational and department initiatives by clearly aligning programs to the mission
Service/Program Administration and Implementation
  1. Implements strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations of Blood Bank and Transfusion Medicine activities; troubleshoots operational issues and develops action plans to resolve.
  2. Collaborates with Director on significant operational issues/barriers.
  3. Assists Director in development, implementation and evaluation of services, programs, policies and procedures, and performance standards to achieve departmental goals.
  4. Responsible for administering programs within budgetary guidelines
  5. With Director, evaluates current as well as new program initiatives for effectiveness, feasibility and cost
  6. Develops staffing plans/schedules to optimize productivity and ensure quality services
  7. Ensures compliance with CNMC policies and procedures, and regulatory standards
Contributes to Department Strategic Planning
  1. With Director, contributes to strategic plan for department services, including short- and long-term objectives
  2. Collects and analyzes customer feedback and evaluates service/department effectiveness
  3. With Director, incorporates findings into plans to modify program/ service delivery
Budget and Financial Analysis
  1. Contributes to development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets
  2. Assists Director in evaluating performance reports and budget variances and developing action plans
  3. Implements actions to facilitate meeting budget requirements
Human Resources Management
  1. In collaboration with Director, hires, trains, develops and directs assigned staff to meet departmental objectives
  2. Provides timely coaching and performance feedback
  3. Deploys staff appropriately to meet business objectives

Internship Program

The internship program provides the novice nurse with the knowledge base and skill set needed to transition to competence in clinical nursing practice. While providing the needed skills to meet the organization goals and mission, the program provides nurses with the leadership skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The program bridges the gap between undergraduate education and real-life professional nursing practice, delivering state-of-the art pediatric care.

The program is offered to new graduate nurses from an accredited nursing program with a passion for children. All new graduates, with less than one-year acute care experience, are eligible to participate in the program after obtaining licensure.
