At least five years experience in a healthcare compliance role, or equivalent experience. 


Required Skills/Knowledge

Expertise in the area of specialty.  Strong knowledge of regulatory agency requirements impacting healthcare systems.  Demonstrated leadership and management skills.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Conducts business with a professional, collaborative approach that is solution oriented and forward thinking.  Good judgment on all matters including the ability to escalate concerns and control or manage potential poor decisions or actions by clients or stakeholders.


Required Licenses and Certifications

Relevant compliance professional certification from national association preferred.



Functional Accountabilities

Safety
  1. Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance
  2. Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation
  3. Stop in the face of uncertainty and takes time to resolve the situation
  4. Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication

Compliance Management
  1. Ensure sensitive and confidential issues are concisely communicated, resolved, and documented in accordance with applicable legal requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
  2. Assist with implementation of compliance work plan.
  3. Develop presentations for the Compliance Management Committee and work groups.
  4. Review and revise compliance policies and procedures on a periodic basis.
  5. Assist Compliance Directors and the Vice President of Compliance with other department activities, as assigned.
  6. Maintain and manage files relating to compliance activities.
  7. Assist Compliance Directors and the Vice President of Compliance with developing and reporting compliance metrics, as needed.
Internal Investigations & Reviews
  1. Perform and document internal investigations in accordance with applicable legal requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
  2. Maintain a log of compliance investigations and reviews in accordance with department requirements.
Compliance Education & Training
  1. Provide compliance educational and training offerings.
  2. In partnership with the Legal Department, serve as a subject matter resource and provide consultation services regarding the application and implementation of current legal requirements and organizational policies and procedures.
  3. Monitor legal and industry developments and identify opportunities for their application and integration into compliance activities.
Auditing & Monitoring
  1. Perform compliance audits and reviews.
  2. Serve as strategic partner to internal stakeholders in the assessment and analysis of audit findings (by internal and external auditors) to determine root causes of issues identified and corrective action plans.

Internship Program

The internship program provides the novice nurse with the knowledge base and skill set needed to transition to competence in clinical nursing practice. While providing the needed skills to meet the organization goals and mission, the program provides nurses with the leadership skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The program bridges the gap between undergraduate education and real-life professional nursing practice, delivering state-of-the art pediatric care.

The program is offered to new graduate nurses from an accredited nursing program with a passion for children. All new graduates, with less than one-year acute care experience, are eligible to participate in the program after obtaining licensure.
