At least 5 years of related and progressive experience. Health care experience preferred. A minimum of 1 year supervisory experience required. One (1) year of Biochemical Genetics & Metabolism and/or Molecular Diagnostics experience preferred.

Required Skills/Knowledge

Must have knowledge of accrediting agency standards and DOH requirements. Experience with Laboratory Information System, especially Sunquest, is preferred.

Required Licenses and Certifications

ASCP certification preferred.

Functional Accountabilities

Program Administration
  1. Implement strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations of department/service area; troubleshoot operational issues and develop action plans to resolve.
  2. Collaborate with Director on significant operational issues/barriers.
  3. Assist Director to develop, implement and evaluate services, programs, policies and procedures, and performance standards to achieve departmental goals.
  4. Responsible to administer programs within budgetary guidelines; with Director, evaluate current as well as new program initiatives for effectiveness, feasibility and cost .
  5. Develop staffing plans/schedules to optimize productivity and ensure quality services.
  6. Ensure compliance with CNMC policies and procedures, and regulatory standards.
Strategic Planning
  1. With Director, contribute to strategic plan for department services, including short- and long-term objectives.
  2. Collect and analyze customer feedback and evaluate service/department effectiveness.
  3. With Director, incorporate findings into plans to modify program/service delivery.
Budget and Financial Analysis
  1. Contribute to develop and to monitor operating and capital budgets.
  2. Assist Director to evaluate performance reports and budget variances and develop action plans.
  3. Implement actions to facilitate meeting budget requirements .
Human Resources
  1. In collaboration with Director, hire, train, develop and direct assigned staff to meet departmental objectives.
  2. Provide timely coaching and performance feedback.
  3. Deploy staff appropriately to meet business objectives.

Internship Program

The internship program provides the novice nurse with the knowledge base and skill set needed to transition to competence in clinical nursing practice. While providing the needed skills to meet the organization goals and mission, the program provides nurses with the leadership skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The program bridges the gap between undergraduate education and real-life professional nursing practice, delivering state-of-the art pediatric care.

The program is offered to new graduate nurses from an accredited nursing program with a passion for children. All new graduates, with less than one-year acute care experience, are eligible to participate in the program after obtaining licensure.
