Functional Accountabilities

Program/Service Administration, Implementation and Human Resources Management

  1. Implement strategic plan through management of day-to-day operations of the department.
  2. Ensure compliance with organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and regulatory standards.
  3. Track, monitor, and evaluate budget for all line items for assigned areas.
  4. Ensure that performance evaluations, medical requirements and all other organizational circuit breakers for all staff are complete and on time.
  5. Establish, build and sustain professional contacts for the purpose of building networks of people with similar goals that support similar interests.
  6. Lead, coach, and mentor frontline managers and supervisors.
  7. Monitor staffing plans/schedules to optimize productivity and ensure quality services.
Exemplary Professional Practice
  1. Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the professional practice model of care and care delivery models in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  2. Accountable for efficient and effective implementation of strategies to achieve organizational financial goals.
  3. Ensure the collection and dissemination of quality data to direct care staff and monitors trends to assist in decision making.
  4. Provide a structure that will support a culture of patient and employee safety.
  5. Monitor and evaluate assessment and care processes that are sensitive to the unique and diverse needs of the population.
Structural Empowerment
  1. Facilitate professional development activities to enhance leadership knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  2. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to improve employee performance.
  3. Assess and advocate for resources to promote and strengthen professional development.
  4. Partner with the organization and stakeholders to identify and plan for the needs in the community.
Budget and Financial Management
  1. Participate in financial planning and budget preparation for assigned areas.
  2. Manage department budget to ensure financial stability of the department for assigned areas.
  3. Track, monitor, and evaluate budget for all line items for assigned areas.
  4. Develop recommendations to meet budget requirements for assigned areas.
  5. Ensure billing accuracy and compliance for both technical (facility) and professional (faculty) billing systems for assigned areas.

Internship Program

The internship program provides the novice nurse with the knowledge base and skill set needed to transition to competence in clinical nursing practice. While providing the needed skills to meet the organization goals and mission, the program provides nurses with the leadership skills to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. The program bridges the gap between undergraduate education and real-life professional nursing practice, delivering state-of-the art pediatric care.

The program is offered to new graduate nurses from an accredited nursing program with a passion for children. All new graduates, with less than one-year acute care experience, are eligible to participate in the program after obtaining licensure.
