Research Assoc I - Pulmonary

Philadelphia, PA, US, 19104

Job Type:

Req ID: 25666

Shift: Days

Employment Status: AF - Active - Regular - Full Time

Job Summary

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine and The Center for Lung Research at CHOP are dedicated to understanding the mechanisms underlying lung diseases and developing new strategies to prevent and treat these disorders. Studies in the Young laboratory encompass a spectrum of basic and patient-oriented research in interstitial lung diseases (ILD) and rare lung diseases and lung biology. Genetic mouse models and in vitro systems are utilized to understand the cell biology and mechanisms of ILD pathogenesis. Longitudinal research cohorts of patients with rare lung diseases provide biospecimens for genetic discovery and translational studies, with a goal of applying that knowledge towards the development of therapies.

The Research Associate I works closely with Dr. Young in developing and implementing the scientific directions of the laboratory and assisting other staff and trainees. Experiments will utilize murine models, human samples, and in vitro cell culture systems for molecular studies.

This position requires specialized education in the biological sciences, with proficiency in relevant techniques for in vivo and/or in vitro molecular studies, skills in planning and interpretation of experiments, and in analysis and presentation of data. Other duties include training and oversight of students working in the laboratory and collaboration with other internal and external scientific collaborators. The Division of Pulmonary Medicine and The Center for Lung Research at CHOP are dedicated to understanding the mechanisms underlying lung diseases and developing new strategies to prevent and treat these disorders.
