Our nurses are provided with a multitude of professional development opportunities to develop their skills so that they can care for the most seriously ill and injured children in our region. Our commitment to the training of nurses is evidenced by:Our collaboration with 16 schools of nursing throughout the country Over 45 nurses on staff who also serve as faculty at nursing schools across Southern California The hospital's status as a practice partner with the Masters Entry Clinical Nurse (MECN) Prelicensure Program at the UCLA School of Nursing. Pediatric nursing rotation training provided to 737 student nurses annually. In addition, the hospital pioneered a unique approach to training nurses that has become a national model. The Versant RN Residency in Pediatrics, a 22-week program that provides new nursing school graduates with a comprehensive guided clinical experience to prepare them for work in an acute care environment. Employees become eligible for most benefits on the first day of the month following one full month of continuous employment. However coverage for domestic partners is purchased with after-tax dollars.
